District Administration and District Level Centre for Women (DLCW)- MSK, Dimapur observed International Day of the Girl Child with the Adolescent Club, Neisatuo colony in Collaboration with Can Youth, Dimapur on the theme My Voice, Our Equal Rights” at Nengulie Memorial High school, Neisatuo colony, Dimapur on 11th of October 2020.
The program was moderated by Miss Suikhole, Fecilitator, Development 4 Adolescent, Can Youth. Mr Sentiwati, Project Coordinator, D4A delivered the welcome address, followed by Introduction and highlight of DLCW by Mr Arhomo C Ngullie, District Coordinator, DLCW-MSK, Dimapur.
Miss Lanusangla Jamir, Women Welfare Officer, DLCW-MSK, Dimapur, the key note speaker highlighted the importance of girl child and stated how girls are taking multiple role in the society. “A girl child should be preserved and protected and a girl right should be heard”, states Miss Lanusangla.
Discrimination against girls is very rampant and it exits in the form of verbal abuse, domestic violence, emotional and physical violence, child marriage and so on. She mentioned that we should support organizations who work for the welfare of women and community as a whole, so that women empowerment could be achieved and in order to do that it should begin with girl child right.
She also stated that Education is the tool in empowering girls and if women are given opportunities, they would be able to polish and excel their talent. Concluding her sharing, she encouraged the girls to raise their voice in whatever situation, be equipped with knowledge and self -awareness and always set good example for the society.
The program concluded with Miss Dhonthaidi Langthasa, Dist Coordinator, DLCW-MSK, Dimapur, acknowledging the participants for their cooperation and active support towards the program.
